Check out these photos from the latest outreach event for Westinghouse College Prep High School students on Wednesday, May 1, in Prentice Women’s Hospital. This was a panel of health professionals speaking with freshmen and sophomore students interested in careers in the health field.
This was the Men In Medicine Conference where 25 students from Westinghouse College Prep High School came to learn from men in Medicine about career as a Physician or as a Biomedical Researcher. The first man beside me in Orthopaedic Surgeon James Hill and the man in the Background of the 5th picture is Psychiatrist and Dean of Diversity affairs, Dr. John E. Franklin.
The last picture is of the boys learning to induce general anesthesia and monitor vital signs using a simulated patient called COSMO.
The two pictures above that last one are simulations of laparoscopic surgery which can be used to test training surgery residents on how to master basic skills using laparoscopic instruments to enable future physicians to practice outside of the operating rooms.
