Dr. Adam Murphy at ChicagoCHEC

"Helping communities that look like me live longer, healthier lives — that has always been the mission."

Adam B. Murphy, MD, MBA was born on the South Side of Chicago to an entrepreneur father and a public health nurse mother whose deep community ties shaped his worldview from the very beginning. By age 10, he was already leading AIDS education workshops. By 13, he was organizing health workshops for inner-city Chicago youth on topics ranging from safer sex to violence prevention.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, before pursuing a joint MD/MBA at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine — a dual credential that has defined his unique approach to medicine as both healer and strategist. He then completed his urology residency at Northwestern University, where he has remained ever since, also earning an MS in Epidemiology and Biostatistics along the way.

Today, Dr. Murphy holds the distinguished title of Distinguished Professor of Population Health Research in Urology and serves as Associate Professor of both Urology and Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He splits his time equally between seeing patients and conducting groundbreaking research on prostate cancer disparities.
